In tarot, most people focus on which card they got. Experienced readers know the real magic is in where it landed.
That "where" is called a Spread - the map that gives each card its job.
If you pull a card without a spread, you have a word. If you pull it inside a spread, you have a sentence.
What is a Spread, really?
Every [ ] empty slot on the screen is a question.
For example: This is your energy, this is their energy, this is what's blocking you.
A spread does 3 things:
1. Gives Context: It stops being "What does this card mean?" and becomes "What does this card mean as my fear?"
2. Gives Flow: Cards are revealed in a specific order to tell a story - from root cause to final guidance.
3. Gives Shape: The visual layout itself has meaning. A circle feels different from a straight line. A diamond rising upwards feels like growth.
In our app, you will see two families of spreads.
PART 1: The Tarot Standards
These are the spreads you already know from classic tarot. They are covered in our companion guide, but to recap:
1-Card: A single daily guidance.
3-Card: Past - Present - Future. Or You - Them - The Connection.
5, 7, 9-Card: More layers of the same story.
Celtic Cross (10-Card): The classic deep-dive. It has a central cross for your current situation and a staff on the side for where it's heading. We add a slight organic tilt to the cards here to make it feel human and alive.
These work beautifully for Tarot decks. But they didn't feel right for Gita Cards or ShivKali. Why?
Gita doesn't speak in past-present-future. It speaks in Dharma. In Illusion, Attachment, Action, and Surrender.
ShivKali doesn't speak in one voice. It speaks in two energies - Shiv and Shakti - that need to converge.
So we built 3 new formations.
PART 2: Our Non-Tarot Formations - Built for Indian Decks
All three share one thing: Every card is perfectly upright at 0°. No tilt. Tarot tilts. Gita is stillness. ShivKali's intensity comes from color and energy, not from a leaning card.
FORMATION A: Krishna's Mirror - 9 Cards
Deck: Gita Cards | Domain: Love Only
Shape: An upward-pointing diamond. Your struggle at the bottom, Krishna's Guidance at the top.
Think of Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Confused at the bottom, guided at the top. That's you.
The positions:
Bottom: ① Your Struggle (Arjuna's Dilemma) - Where you are stuck.
Second Tier: ② Your Energy and ③ Their Energy - The two forces in the story.
Widest Middle Tier: ④ The Illusion (Maya), ⑤ The Attachment (Moha), ⑥ The Fear - This is the widest row because this is where most of the relationship actually lives.
Upper Tier: ⑦ Your Action, ⑧ The Surrender - What you do vs. what you let go.
Apex: ⑨ Krishna's Guidance ★ - Always revealed last. The final word.
What makes it special: The reveal order changes based on your issue. If you choose "Over-attachment" as your issue, we show you The Attachment card first. If you choose "Fear of loss", we show you The Fear card first. The reading meets you where you are. Card ⑨ always glows gold and is always last.
FORMATION B: The Gita Diamond - 11 Cards
Deck: Gita Cards | Domain: Marriage, Family, Career, Money, Life - Everything except Love
Shape: A bigger diamond - 3-2-3-2-1 pyramid.
This is the elder brother of Krishna's Mirror.
If Krishna's Mirror is for the heart, Gita Diamond is for your life path. The structure is fixed:
Foundation (①②③): Your base / root / past - three cards.
Lower Mid (④⑤): The immediate influences.
Core (⑥⑦⑧): The widest tier - the main dynamic at play.
Upper Mid (⑨⑩): What is emerging.
Apex (⑪): Synthesis / Outcome ★ - Always last.
The position names change based on domain. In Career, ⑥⑦⑧ might be Skill, Opportunity, Obstacle. In Money, it might be Income, Expense, Karma. But the shape of the journey - from foundation to outcome - stays the same.
FORMATION C: Shakti-Shiv Prema Yantra - 11 Cards
Deck: ShivKali | Domain: Love Only
Shape: A Yantra - Not just positions, but energies.
This is our most advanced spread. Every single position has an energy type.
🔵 Shiv = Blue - Consciousness, Stability, Foundation
⚡️ Shakti = Magenta - Energy, Emotion, Movement
🔱 Shiv-Shakti = Unified - Sacred Union
The map:
Base Row: ① Their Energy (Shiv or Shakti), ② Your Energy (Shiv or Shakti), ③ Past Karma (Shakti only)
Second Row: ④ Near Future (Shiv only), ⑤ Their Feelings (Shakti only)
Core Tension Row (Widest): ⑥ Their Wants (Shiv), ⑦ Your Wants (Shakti), ⑧ The Obstacle (Kali - high-intensity Shakti)
Convergence Row: ⑨ Foundation (Shiv) and ⑩ Their Shadow (Shakti) - These two have faint cyan arrows pointing into the apex, showing they must merge.
Apex: ⑪ Sacred Union ★ - Can only be a Shiv-Shakti unified card. It has a unique split back - magenta on one side, cyan on the other, with Om in the center.
What makes it special:
- Energy-locked draws: You will never get a Shiv card in a Shakti-only position. The deck respects the energy.
- Safety Gate: Fierce forms like Prathyangira and Tripurasundari are locked for new users. You see a darkened card with a faint lock - no scary explanation. The app automatically picks the next highest-affinity safe card.
- Two-voice synthesis: At the end, you don't get one answer. You get Shakti Speaks, Shiv Speaks, and then The Union. And two separate actions.
Which spread should you choose?
Don't worry about choosing the shape - you choose the question, we choose the right shape.
If your question is "Why are we fighting?", you get Krishna's Mirror with a reveal order that starts with your Struggle.
If your question is "Will I get this job?", you get Gita Diamond that builds from your foundation to your outcome.
If your question is "What do they truly feel, beyond words?", you get Prema Yantra.
The cards are the words. The spread is the grammar.
Next time you get a reading, don't just look at the cards. Look at where they sit in the diamond. That position is half the answer.
